Charsadda - A local leader of the Awami National Party (ANP), Farooq Khan, on Wednesday sustained minor injuries when his car was targeted with a remote controlled bomb in Sardheri area of Charsadda, police said. The ANP leader was on his way for election campaigning in Sardheri area when an improvised explosive device (IED) exploded near his car. Farooq Khan and a child sustained injuries in the explosion. The injured were rushed to the Charsadda District Headquarters Hospital. The police lodged FIR against unknown miscreants. Farooq Khan is the vice-president of ANP at PK-17 Charsadda and is also the coordinator of ANP President Asfandyar Wali Khan's election campaign, who is contesting from NA-7 Charsadda. On Tuesday evening, 16 people including six policemen were killed and more than 50 were wounded including ANP senior leader Ghulam Ahmad Bilour in a suicide bomb blast at an ANP corner meeting in Yakatoot area, Peshawar. Earlier, ANP leaders Syed Mukarram Shah and Syed Masoom Shah were targeted in two separate attacks, the former died while the latter sustained injuries.This news was published in The Nation newspaper.
