ISLAMABAD - A day after its appearance before the judicial commission probing allegations of rigging in last general election, the Core Committee of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) on Friday held a brainstorming session to weigh its options of producing evidence of rigging before the commission.
The meeting of Core Committee of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) was held at the party' Central Secretariat in Islamabad under the chair of Chairman Imran Khan. The committee also discussed the by-election of NA-246 in Karachi, the upcoming local government elections, local government elections of cantonment board and the issues of party' organization.
An office-bearer of PTI said that coordinator of PTI's Task Force Ishaq Khan Khakwani who was also member of the Core Committee briefed the meeting about the evidence collected so far for their onward submission to the commission. The commission had given seven-day time to PTI to submit proofs of rigging before it after the council of party sought time in this regard.
A recently formed PTI's Task Force, including lawyers is collecting all evidences of rigging from the party candidates.
Central Information Secretary PTI talking to the reporters after the meeting said that the Core Committee had endorsed the decision of the party leadership to submit proofs of rigging to the commission. "As many as 21 political parties have gone to the commission and all are saying that last elections were rigged. We hope that judicial commission will give decision in our favour," she said.
About NA-246 elections, Dr Mazari said that PTI was running its election campaign there successfully as the Rangers and other law enforcement agencies were extending their help. She said that PTI was in constant contact with Jamaat Islami (JI) in connection with by-election and hoped that the latter would withdraw its candidate in the favour of PTI candidate. "The whole city has become active and the success of PTI in the by-election was writing on the wall," she said. Dr Mazari said that the meeting also decided to decrease the fee for the foreign membership of the party.
