Islamabad: Russia will extend loan of 2 billion dollars to Pakistan, for laying LNG pipeline and the two countries have given final shape to the agreement on this count.
This amount will be spent on laying pipeline for transportation of LNG from Karachi to Lahore. As per media reports, minister for petroleum Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has said a Russian company will be awarded contract for construction of this pipeline.
Reports further said the agreement is likely to be signed, between both countries in the next week. Pakistan will ink a commercial accord with a Russian firm for laying 1100 meters long pipeline. This contract will be awarded without bidding process. Russia will start exporting LNG in 2016 and it has extended offer for selling gas to Pakistan.
