PESHAWAR - Criticising Imran Khan for his unconstitutional demands, Awami National Party President Asfandyar Wali Khan said that Imran Khan and Tahir-ul-Qadri will be responsible if democracy is derailed in the country.
He was addressing the concluding ceremony of the party elections in which he was elected unanimously as central president for the fifth consecutive term while Mian Iftikhar Hussain was elected as general secretary of Awamui National Party.
He said that constitution of Pakistan is the supreme document for running the affairs of the country and it is clearly written in it how to remove an elected prime minister but it is unfortunate how Imran Khan is asking the prime minister to resign from his post.
He said that ANP will not support any party for its unconstitutional demands as such demands might endanger the democratic process in the country. He said that the country was confronted with lawlessness, terrorism, poverty and other issues.
He said that there is no single word about technocrat or national government in the constitution and he does not know why the so-called leaders are demanding the government of technocrats. He said that the KP government is diverting the attention of the people from the existing problems faced by the province in order to hide its failures.
He informed if Imran could prepare 10,000 marchers for Islamabad, the prime minister can also bring millions of marchers against him but this is not the solution to the problem.
He criticised Chief Minister Pervez Khattak for his dance in front of Imran and said that the people of his province are suffering due to rains while the chief minister is dancing for the sake of his chair. He said if anyone takes illegal step against democracy, Awami National Party will be the first party to stand against those elements.
