Iftikhar vows to keep cultural icons names alive

PESHAWAR Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Minister for Culture and Information, Mian Iftikahr Hussain Saturday said the Bollywood super stars Dileep Kumar and Raj Kapoor were those legends of this soil who were respectable for all of them and their residences in Peshawar, giving them the status of national heritage, would be preserved for the coming generation. He expressed these views during his visit to the residences of Dileep Kumar and Raj Kapoor at Qissa Khwani, Peshawar. KP Secretary Culture, Azmat Hanif Orakzai, Director Culture Pervez Khan and prominent artist and head of Hunar Kada College Islamabad Jamal Shah were also present on this occasion. The minister also directed Secretary Culture to immediately contact the owners of the houses of Dileep Kumar and Raj Kapoor for their acquisition on payment. The minister said the work of legends, no matter wherever they were in the world, would be preserved and documentaries would be prepared for the information and guidance of future generation. He said this soil was very productive and had produced prominent personalities and names in various sectors, which he said was a matter of immense pride for them. He added that the provincial government decided to prepare dramas and documentaries on the life and achievements of such legendaries of this soil. He added that special conferences and fares on local and national level would be held to help promote and preserve our culture. Similarly, he said films highlighting the sacrifices of those particularly the women folk who played an important role in war combating the terrorism, would be arranged. He added, we would invite our legend personalities here so that our relevant people could benefit from their experiences.
