Collective efforts inevitable to bottle terror genie

HAFIZABAD -:  Secretary General Jamaat-e-Islami Liaqat Baloch has stressed the need for joint and sincere efforts by politicians, Ulema, media and army to tackle terrorism in the country. While talking to local media, he said that army operation in tribal areas and US drone attacks since past 12 years had given rise to the terrorism and extremism and had claimed lives of thousands of innocent civilian and law enforcement agencies personnel. He said that sincere efforts by Taliban and government were the need of hour to ensure sincere and early negotiations for peace and stability in the country. Referring to the trial of dictator Gen (r) Pervez Musharraf, he said that he was a national criminal and he should be punished under Article 6. He said that Pervez Musharraf should appear before the trial court to defend his point of view, if any, to get justice.
He demanded early holding of local government elections to provide democratic rights to the masses at grass root level.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Minority Alliance at its emergent meeting held here under its chairmanship of Javed Qamar Sandhu stripped off its General Secretary Joseph Masih of the charge for violating the constitution of the alliance and misappropriation in Christmas funds.
The meeting was attended among others by all office-bearers of the Alliance, Dr Boota Masih, Asif Khokhar, Ishaq Masih, Iqbal Qaiser, Pastor Nasir Pervaiz Ghouri and Barkat Masih.
