PESHAWAR - The administration of University campus Peshawar failed to take serious action against activists of political organisations as both Pakhtuns Student Federation (PSF) and Islami Jamiat Tulba (IJT) once gain torched seven rooms in two hostels of the Peshawar University. Both the groups blamed each other for torching rooms in the New Hostel Block A and New Hostel Block-B. However, independent sources said that student activists PSF entered the hostels and attacked various rooms of students having affiliation with IJT. Documents and books have also been set on fire during the incident. Talking to The Nation campus Nazim Islami Jamiat Tulba Shah Zaman Durrani said that some outsiders of PSF entered the hostels along with arms and started torching their rooms in both blocks of New Hostel. He said that their rooms were under complete supervision of the administration and police but the PSF armed men entered the hostel forcibly and torched the rooms of IJT. He said that it shows that the administration is inefficient and incompetent to deal with such kind of incidents and if they could not ensure security to the rooms of students then they should resign immediately. He maintained that few days back, some armed activists had opened firing on students who marking were the Haya Day in response to Valentine Day. On that occasion, the PSF student activists opened firing and injured a student of biotechnology Hafiz Rizwan Jillani but despite this the administration did not register any FIR against the PSF activists. He alleged that PSF leader Tariq Afghan, Yasir, Wasim Khattak, Attaullah, Farman, Akhtar Iqbal and Umar were involved in firing incident, which resulted in injuring of Hafiz Rizwan. He demanded of the university administration to arrest the responsible persons and stop cultural programmes inside university premises, otherwise, they would encircle VC office on February 20. On the other hand, Chairman PSF Muqarab Khan Buneri rejected the allegations of Islami Jamiat Tulba and said that first they injured three of their students identified as Inam Buneri, Department of Archeology, Hazrat, Department of Pakistan Study and Jalal another student of the university. He said that the PSF activists torched the rooms in reaction to their attack. He also demanded arrest of the activists of IJT who were involved in torching rooms of the PSF student activists. KPK GOVERNOR BRIEFED ON FATA SITUATION: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Engineer Shaukatullah chaired the FATA Political Agents Conference at the Governor House here on Monday.Chief Secretary Muhammad Shahzad Arbab, Additional Chief Secretary FATA Arbab Muhammad Arif, Commissioners of Malakand, Peshawar, Kohat, Bannu and Dera Ismail Khan Divisions also attended the conference besides the administrative secretaries of line departments of FATA Secretariat and the political agents of tribal agencies. The conference thread barely reviewed the law and order situation in FATA and the political agents briefed the participants about the prevailing state of affairs in their jurisdictions. The situation with regard to repatriation of dislocated tribes from various tribal agencies of FATA especially came under discussion and the Governor was briefed that return of Para Chamkani tribes of Kurram Agency has almost been completed and efforts are also underway to make return of the remaining dislocated tribes of Kurram as well as South Waziristan and Orakzai agency. The conference also reviewed pace of progress on development projects in FATA and it was told that sufficient headway has been made possible despite hardships on many counts. Talking on this occasion, the governor desired to continue vigorous efforts to make best use of the available resources and ensure that the difficulties of the people of FATA are decreased to the minimum extent.RESCUE 1122 RESPONSE LAUDED: Appreciating the effort of Rescue 1122 Peshawar, Director General Rescue 1122 Dr Asad said that Peshawar Directorate is providing unique and emergency services to common citizen. He said this while chairing a meeting held in Rescue 1122 Head Quarter of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Peshawar on Monday. Addressing on the occasion, he said that service rules of this directorate are in final stages and the rescue staff will be protected under healthy Service Rules and Regulation.The DG appreciated the hard work of rescue staff and said that instead of heavy traffic jam, rescuers have managed and maintained their standard average response time i.e. 06 minutes to each emergency. Moreover, refresher training for Rescue 1122 staff are to act fast during emergency handling and quipped themselves with the latest culture of first aid and fire extinguishing and building collapse.This news was published in The Nation newspaper.
