KARACHI- In a crackdown against profiteers in different parts of the city, 83 shopkeepers were fined a sum of Rs. 214,200 for selling commodities above fixed rates. Five profiteers were sent to jail for continuous violation of the commodity rates.
Karachi Commissioner Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui stated that the campaign launched against the profiteers would continue until all commodities were sold at rates fixed by the administration.
In the crackdown, 46 milkmen, 16 shopkeepers of general commodities, 18 chicken, three vegetable sellers and three fruit sellers were fined for selling essential items at excessive prices.
