DERA GHAZI KHAN-Heavy rain on Koh-I-Suleman Range during the last four days resulted in furious hill torrents which inflicted a great deal of damage to the nearby slum areas, and killed two kids and injured nine others as a truck turned turtle.
These hill torrents include Sori Lund, Vidour, Mithawan and Tomi nallah. PA Tribal Area Shahid Doger said that the administration had made adequate arrangements to handle the situation caused by the hill torrents.
According to Irrigation Department, the maximum flow in Sori Lund was 65,000 cusecs. Rescue 1122 said that a truck bound for Loralai overturned in Tomi Nallah and the 11 people on board drowned in the Nallah. However, 9 people were rescued. Unfortunately, two children could not be rescued. Their dead bodies were recovered and handed to their parents.
The local administration held different meetings to chalk out ways to minimise the losses caused by hill torrents. But a final plan in this regard could not be made.
