Czech Republic keen to contribute in CPEC: Envoy

Islamabad: Ambassador of Czech Republic to Pakistan Jan Fury has said that his country is extremely interested to contribute in China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and to access central Asia states through Pakistan.

The envoy said while speaking at a meeting with Pak-Czech Business Council participated by Council Chairman Amir Atta Bajwa, President ICCI Atif Ikram Sheikh, FPCCI Chairman Coordination Malik Sohail, Zahid Maqbool and representatives of Sargodha and Faisalabad chambers of commerce, said a press release issued on Wednesday.

The envoy said that a high-level Pakistani delegation is due in Prague shortly with which we would take up many issue including bilateral trade and cooperation, CPEC and route to the resource-rich central Asia.

Fury said that Czech Prime Minister will soon visit Pakistan to cement ties as both countries have good scope for cooperation in the fields of textile, steel, transportation, IT, electronics, and heavy machinery.

Ambassador Fury noted that “the western media is not painting factual picture of Pakistan where situation has improved and economy is picking up. Our trade with India is satisfactory but not as per the potential with Pakistan for which both the governments and the business community can play their role”.

The Ambassador said that we have to improve communication between the business communities of the two countries as the trade volume between the two countries is low.

At the occasion, the participants led by Council Chairman Amir Bajwa vowed all out cooperation to enhance economic ties saying that they would not only heavily participate in the trade fair but also establish a Pakistan pavilion there.
