MIRPUR (AJK) - Azad Jammu & Kashmir President Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan urged the local journalists at the base camp of the Kashmir Freedom Movement to utilise their skills for early settlement of the Kashmir dispute in line with the people's aspiration.
He was talking to a five-member delegation of Kashmir Press Club Mirpur office-bearers at the Kashmir house in the Friday night. The delegation was led by Club's President Syed Abid Hussain Shah. On the occasion, he also mentioned that the media had proved to be the strong source of helping resolve the global challenges in the 21st century. 
President Yaqoob continued that since the Kashmir issue has entered its crucial stage, it was the paramount duty of the AJK journalists affiliated with the national or international media to highlight the importance of early settlement of the issue.
He added that at the present stage, the world community's interest is increasing in its early settlement.
He said that it was an acknowledged fact that the solution to the issue in line with the international norms and the United Nations resolution was the key to everlasting peace in the world in general and the South Asian region in particular.
He talked about his recent visit to the United States of America where he attended sessions of the United Nations' General Assembly and the OIC's group meetings to discuss the Kashmir-like international and regional issues.
The AJK president pointed out that the world community was seemed interested in early resolution to the global issues including the core issue of Kashmir for the establishment of tension-free environment in South Asia. He said that President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari effectively advocated the Kashmir cause in the UN's General Assembly.
"The Kashmiri people are grateful to the people and the government of Pakistan for extending unflinching moral, political and diplomatic support to them in their struggle for right to self-determination," he said. To a question, he suggested that conferences of the Kashmir's journalists from both the sides should be held to know the opinions of the intellect class in this respect.
He also emphasised for managing tours of the Kashmiri journalists to abroad to muster maximum sympathies of the international community for this purpose. Other members of the delegation included Altaf Hamid Rao, Hafiz Muhammad Maqsood, Sajaad Haider Jiraal and Sardar Abid Hussain.
Security plan for Muharram finalised : City Police SHO Ch Nawaz Virk has said the police have finalized a comprehensive security plan to maintain peace and ensure security for Majalis, processions and around Imambargahs in the city during the holy month of Muharramul Harram.
Talking to the media, the SHO said that 80 police personnel would be deployed during Muharram to maintain peace.
The police force will provide security to Majalis, and processions while units of Pak Army and Rangers would remain on-call to cope with the situation in case of any emergency, he added.
He said that wall chalking, distribution of hatred and provocative literature had been banned while Peace Committees would remain in close liaison with the intelligence and police committees and religious leaders.
