Court rejects plea for 2nd FIR against Mush

Lal Masjid case

ISLAMABAD - A local court Monday dismissed an application seeking registration of second First Investigation Report (FIR) of Lal Masjid killings against former president general (Retd) Pervez Musharraf, former prime minister Shaukat Aziz and his cabinet members.
Additional district and sessions judge Sikandar Khan announced the verdict which was reserved earlier on a petition filed by Shohada Foundation of Pakistan Trust (SFPT).
In his verdict, the judge stated that the applicant has not shown any concerns over the first FIR of the same incident hence the application stood dismissed.
However, the judge noted that the applicant could become a party in the first FIR of Lal Masjid killings and directed the SHO of Aabpara police to record statement of the applicant in the first FIR of the matter.
The application was moved by Jan Muhammad Qureshi, the father of Shehzad Qureshi, who was killed in the Lal Masjid operation in July 2007. The plaintiff had prayed to the court for filing of a second FIR of Lal Masjid operation against Musharraf and others.
Jan Muhammad Qureshi on behalf of Shohda Foundation of Pakistan (SFP) had moved the petition in the court and contended that a large number of innocent students including his son were killed in the operation. In this connection, the plaintiff submitted an application with the PS Aabpara but the police did not register the case.
Therefore, he prayed to the court to direct the SHO for registration of second FIR.
