Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has decided to field Azam Sawati as party candidate, on the Senate seat that has fallen vacant after the death of Azam Hoti, who was elected to Senate on a ticket of the Awami National Party.
According to sources, PTI parliamentary board has principally decided to field Swati on the vacant seat and a formal announcement in this regard will be made in a few days. The sources said that PTI has great chances to clinch the seat, owing to its numerical strength in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa provincial assembly.
If PTI wins the seat, its strength in Senate will be seven, which has six elected senators currently.
