Displaced people on protest

PESHAWAR - Dozens of Internally Displaced People (IDPs) staged a protest demonstration in Bannu district against the government's plan to vacate government schools from them soon after reopening of educational institutions on September 1 next.
The protesting displaced persons presently staying at the government schools demonstrated in front of Bannu Press Club on Monday said that government did not take any arrangements to shift them from schools to other locations but time and again they were issuing directives to leave government schools immediately.
Shazib Dawar, Ikramullah Dawar and Mehmood Dawar while speaking to the enraged protestors said that they were welcomed when operation was launched but now they were forced to leave schools. "Where should we go," they said, adding they were unable to rent houses.
They said, "We will vacate schools immediately if we are provided alternate place." They said that they were already facing numerous challenges.
Holding banners and placards, they also chanted slogans in favour of their demands.
They said if the government did not stop its plan to vacate schools from them by not providing alternate places for sheltering then they would besiege the Governor House and the government would be responsible if any untoward incident was happened. Later on, they dispersed peacefully.
