Haleem-KESC tussle reaches boiling point

KARACHI - Advisor to Sindh Chief Minister Haleem Adil Sheikh on Sunday announced to establish a complaint committee to register consumers grievances regarding inflated bills and loadshedding in Karachi. Addressing a press conference at the Karachi Press Club, Haleem Adil Sheikh, who is also secretary general of the PML-Q Sindh chapter, termed the KESC as the East India Company. He also alleged that the companys officials were hatching conspiracy to destroy the economic and social activities in Karachi like the East India Company did in the past. The Q leader said that the committee would fix complaint boxes at every office of the city where people will put their complaints. Afterwards, he added, he would file a petition in the Supreme Court against the KESC management. He said that the committee would provide free legal assistance to move the court against the KESC. Sheikh added that he should have started the movement earlier, observing that now he himself had become a victim of the company and would free the Karachi people from its monopoly. He alleged the KESC was responsible for gas loadshedding in the country because it runs power plants with gas instead of furnace oil.
