PESHAWAR - Health employees working under the National HIV/AIDs Control Programme staged a protest demonstration here outside press club against non-payment of the salaries for last eight months. The protest was headed by Tahir Khan, a health worker, along with dozens of other employees and health workers, serving under the National AiDs/HIV control programme. The protesters were holding placards and banners inscribed with anti-government and against high officials of the provincial health department. Talking to media persons, Tahir Khan said that the funds have been allocated for the programme in the current financial budget 2013-14 while a PC-I has also been prepared but the provincial government and health department are using delaying tactics in its approval. "Employees are working without payment for the last eight months," he alleged. Tahir said that they had also raised issue with provincial health secretary and he had promised that salaries would be released to employees by end of December last year but the decision was yet to be implemented. This news was published in The Nation newspaper.
