Plea for FIR against Ijaz rejected

ISLAMABAD (NNI) - A local Islamabad court dismissed an application for seeking the registration of a case against Mansoor Ijaz in a police station.
According to a private television channel, Additional Sessions Judge Syed Wajahat Hasan announced the ruling over a petition pleading the court to register in a police station a case against American-Pakistani Businessman Mansoor Ijaz, the person who triggered turmoil in national politics by unveiling the Memogate scandal.
Petitioner Khalid Javed filed an application on Jan 7 in the court of Wajahat Hussain for the registration of an FIR against Ijaz.  The court concerned had sought a report from the Secretariat SHO, but the police did not file any reply.
The petition was filed by workers of the ruling PPP,  who contended the court should direct police to file a case against Ijaz for his alleged role in inciting people against the govt and in harming the image of Pakistani institutions.
