Maleeha Lodhi calls on Ch. Nisar

Islamabad- Dr. Maleeha Lodhi, newly designated Permanent representative of Pakistan to the United Nations, called on Federal Minister for Interior and Narcotics control, Ch. Nisar Ali Khan.

During the meeting the Minister said, in the wake of on-going implementation of National Action Plan, the entire nation is strongly committed to exterminate the menace of extremism. NAP holds firm support of all political parties, civil society, armed forces and the people of Pakistan. The national efforts need to be truly presented in the comity of nations across the world, he added.

The joint vehement efforts to root out extremism in Pakistan, is not only unprecedented but also unheard of in the past, the minister added. Considering her vast experience in holding important International positions and strong acumen of International relations, the minister said that the government has huge expectations from her in upcoming assignment as Permanent Representative of Pakistan to United Nations.

The minister congratulated her to be the first lady to hold this important international position and extended his best wishes towards her, prior to assume charge of the new portfolio.

Acknowledging the views of the minister, Dr. Lodhi said Pakistan is gradually gaining lost credibility in the western world, due to its pragmatic domestic and international policies. She would try her level best to deliver as per the expectations of the government and plead the case of country utilizing every possible diplomatic or international platform.
