Engineers, students rally for colleagues recovery

QUETTA - A number of workers and activists of Baloch Students Organisation-Azad took rally on Saturday against the abduction of their central office bearer Shafiq Baloch, alleging the intelligence agencies personnel kidnapped Shafiq Baloch. Shafiq Baloch was kidnapped on Friday near Lakpass area when traveling to Mastung from Quetta. The protesters assembled outside Quetta Press Club, raising slogans and carrying placards inscribed with the slogans against forces and government and asking international human rights organsations to take notice of the incident. The speakers accused the personnel of forces and intelligence agencies of whisking away unarmed the Baloch youth and activists of BSO-Azad and said that after subjecting these innocent Balochs to torture in their cells, they were killed and their dead bodies were thrown in the desolate places and streets. Thousands of the Baloch youth and political activists are still languishing in torture cells, they said, and adding that the forces forcibly captured Balochistan soil and the Centre was engaged in looting and plundering Baloch resources. Separately, the engineers of the province took a rally against the abduction of their senior colleague along with staff some two week ago from Dhadar area, demanding the government secure the safe release of abductees. The engineers, who were some one hundred in number, gathered in front of the Quetta Press Club and were raising slogans demanding early recovery of senior engineer Syed Naeem Shah and his staff members. Some of them were also carrying placards inscribed with the similar slogans. Earlier, their representatives Rasheed Tareen Usman Babai, Shakeel Shahwani, Jawaid Akhtar and Nasir Majid while addressing a press conference at the Press Club announced that a six member action committee was constituted for coordination with police and other law enforcing agencies regarding the recovery of Naeem Shah and his colleagues. They said that the committee would also call upon Balochistan Governor Zulfiqar Ali Magsi, Chief Minister Aslam Raisani and other authorities for activating law enforcing agencies to secure the release of Naeem Shah. They said two week had passed and the delegation of engineer association met the Chief Secretary Balochistan and police officials but to no avail. They said that no one contacted the families of the kidnapped regarding the ransom money so far. They also threatened to abandon the work all the government development projects, regretting that the provincial government would be responsibility for such strike.
