Lakki police net 10 gamblers; arms seized


LAKKI MARWAT - The city police arrested ten gamblers during a raid on a hotel in Naurang town on Monday.
“On getting information, a police party of Shaheed Asmatullah Khan Khattak police station, headed by SHO Gul Hameed Khan, raided a hotel and found ten people busy in playing bet”, said an official.
He said that the law enforcers arrested them and also seized the stake money amounting to Rs 38400.
“A case has been registered against the arrested men under relevant section of law and investigation is underway”, he maintained.
 He said that police also launched offensive against anti social elements and outlaws in different parts of district following reports about the presence of criminals in the area.
“District Police Chief Abdul Rashid had ordered tightening the noose around criminals’ gangs whereupon police parties carried out raids on the hideouts of proclaimed offenders in Paharkhel Thall, Hayatkhel, Tajazai and Naserkhel”, he added.
The official further said that the police arrested five people identified as Mashal Khan, Ikramullah, Usman Khan, Saifur Rehman and Rashid Khan and recovered two AK 47 assault rifles, two shotguns, a pistol and a good number of bullets from them.
The proclaimed absconders, he said, were not present in their hideouts when law enforcers conducted raid there.
