Regional Transport Authority Secretary Saeed Ahmad Khan has arrested an extortionist Muhammad Nawaz red-handed while forcibly getting ‘bhata’ from bus/vans drivers and have recovered Rs13,000 from him.
He also challaned seven drivers of bus/vans for charging excessive fair from the passengers and have realised fine of Rs21,400 from them. He warned the drivers to desist from overcharging otherwise stern action would be taken against them. He also directed the drivers not to pay any ‘bhata’ and inform him about the extortionist.
HOUSE LOOTED: Three armed dacoits intruded into a house in Mohallah Sharifpura and made off with gold ornaments, cash and cellphones worth million of rupees.
According to police source, three armed bandits barged into the house of Syed Sajjad Hussain Shah, son of Syed Sabir Hussain Shah and took away five tolas of gold ornaments, Rs11,000 and three cellphones at gunpoint. They also locked the family members in a room. The police are investigating.
