PESHAWAR - Leader of the Businessmen Forum and ANP Senator Ilyas Bilour has strongly opposed the federal government’s proposed strategy for equal distribution of gas in the country, saying every province has a legitimate right to avail its natural resources first.Reacting to the statement of Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resource Dr Asim Hussain about the equitable distribution of gas among all the provinces, he said that the minister always gives statements against the Constitution, which will not be good in the interest of the masses and the country as well. He warned that they will not allow anyone to take a decision against the Constitution.Senator Ilyas Bilour said that his party strongly believes in supremacy of Constitution and rule of law, and will not allow anyone to spoil the sanctity and true spirit of the provincial autonomy under the 18th constitutional amendments through such unlawful act. He informed that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province is producing about 400 MMCF natural gas, while its consumption is about 200 MMCF. He recalled that a joint writ had already been submitted in the apex court by the business community and the Sarhad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI) for the provision of uninterrupted gas supply to the province, adding Peshawar High Court had also given a detail verdict under the Article 158 of the constitution.He maintained that the move of the Federal Minister was totally against the spirit of the constitution, and crumbling the privilege of provinces. He asked that member of the draft committee on LBTU Gas processing policy 2012 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh and Balochistan to play their due role and refrain of taking decision against the constitution.
