OUR STAFF REPORTER MALAKWAL - A tribute was paid to national poet Allama Muhammad Iqbal in a function held in the Government Raffiul Islam High School Malakwal here on Friday. On the occasion, students participated in various competitions, besides recitation of the great poets Iqbads stanzas. They also presented various programmes to highlight theme of poetic verses of Allama Iqbal. In speech competition, the students expressed their views on 'Iqbal or Asr-e-Hazer ka Jawan, 'Iqbal ka Falsafa-e-Khudi for urdu speakers while English speakers talked on 'Iqbal and the Present Muslim Ummah. The students played up the perspectives of the given topics in very enthusiastic and lucid manner. However, Hafiz Muhammad Mohsin, an orator, won speech competition, Muhammad Ahsan won the singing competition of Qalam-e-Iqbal. Mr Mukhtar Ahmad, Dr Muhammad Ashraf, Allama Faiz Ahmad were appointed as judges for the competitions. Addressing the participants, chief guest Headmaster Hafeez Ahmad called upon the youths to be honest, active, vigilant, obedient to parents, law-abiding, dutiful, patriotic and alive to the present needs of the nation. He maintained that todays students have become lethargic and holiday-lovers against the teaching of the national poet.
