KARACHI - Pakistan People’s Party on Sunday said that PPP owns every city of the Sindh province and would not withdraw from any part of the province including Karachi.
“Karachi was the stronghold of PPP during Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto’s era and once again in 2018, the city will become a stronghold of PPP,” the PPP leaders including Adviser to CM Sindh on Information Maula Bux Chandio, Adviser to CM Sindh on Labour Saeed Ghani and others said while addressing a press conference at PPP Media Cell.
They said that Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah approved 18 projects worth Rs 10 billion for Karachi development on the directives of Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and the amount would be spent this year.
Saeed Ghani said that the last meeting of Sindh government officials at Bilawal House was aimed at addressing three major issues of the province including cleaning, scarcity of water and its proper distribution and transport issues.
“We have mulled over strategy to address these issues and in upcoming month, the city will witness these development works and change on ground,” he said. He said that before 2018 elections, few prominent figures would become part of PPP in Karachi.
Speaking on the occasion, Maula Bux Chandio said that Karachi was stronghold of PPP in Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto’s period but later due to the attitude of Zia ul Haq and support to elements that later became a menace for state, PPP had to face problems in maintaining its ground in the city.
“We are not against anyone but will oppose those who are against the integrity of the country,” he said adding that they had tolerated things only for the sake of democracy. He said that the restructuring process of party was continuing as guided by PPP Chairman and the final report would be presented to the chairman soon.
“We will take out a rally in Karachi on 18 October to pay homage to martyrs of Karsaz incident and will prove once again that Karachi is the stronghold of PPP,” he said.
