Law and order situation improves in Gilgit


GILGIT  - Law and order situation in Gilgit has started returning to normal but shortage of commodities still remained there, adding, to hardships of the local population. On Thursday, the 16th day of curfew, 11-hour relaxation from 6 am to 5pm was announced for the citizens of Gilgit so that they could purchase food and other commodities but local population had to suffer due to shortage of edibles, fuel and other daily use items in the market.However, during curfew relaxation hours, ban on gathering of two persons, wearing jacket and chaddar remained imposed. Mobile phone service remained suspended creating communication problems for the residents.Law-enforcement agencies personnel continued patrolling across the City and entrance as well as exit from the City remained banned.The people have appealed to the provincial and Federal governments to allow transportation of commodities from down country and travelling from and to the City so that stranded persons could leave or arrive in the City.
