Islamabad-President Hamid Karzai was shocked at the assassination attempt on journalist Hamid Mir and expressed sympathies with his family, management of the Jang group and staff members.
Hamid Mir was seriously injured in a terrorist attack in Karachi on Saturday when a gunman sprayed bullets at his car. Afghanistan joined other leaders to condemn the attack. Afghan ambassador in Islamabad, Janan Mosazai, said that the attack shocked President’s Karzai.
“I convey President Karzai's deep sadness over the attack on Mr. Hamid Mir. The President prayed for his quick recovery. He also expressed sympathies with his family and the Geo colleagues,” ambassador Mosazai said in a statement. The ambassador and press counselor Zardasht Shams also expressed sympathies with Hamid Mir family and his colleagues. British High Commissioner, Philip Barton, also showed sadness at the attack. “I was shocked to learn of the attack on Hamid Mir. I wish him the best for a full and speedy recovery,” he said.
