RAWALPINDI - With the advent of summer season there is need for joint efforts, both from public and private sector, to combat the menace of dengue, stated Raja Ashfaq Sarwar, provincial minister for labour and human resource, while reviewing anti-dengue measures here at a meeting on Saturday.
Sarwar said that slackness of any official towards anti-dengue activities would not be tolerated at any cost and all the government departments and attached organisations should complete their task relating to vector surveillance according to the timeline and fixed schedule.
The minister said action should be taken against those found responsible for breeding larvae due to irresponsible behaviour.
He also directed to keep an eye on places like graveyards, junkyards, tyre shops, restaurants and water reservoirs to prevent larvae breeding. He asked Solid Waste Management authorities to adopt adequate measures to improve the sanitary conditions in the area.
The absence of some of government officers in anti-dengue committee review meeting was also noticed and it was directed that their casual attitude should be communicated to administrative secretaries of respective departments.
Earlier, the representatives of different departments gave presentations about the performance of their respective departments with regard to fight against dengue.
