Chotu will be interrogated, no-go areas eliminated: ISPR

DG ISPR Lieutenant General Asim Bajwa confirmed that Ghulam Rasool, alias Chotu, and his 13 companions of the Chotu gang have surrendered and all 24 captives freed, Waqt News reported.

Lt Gen Bajwa said that Chotu will be transported and interrogated, while no-go areas all across the country will be targeted.
While giving a media briefing, he stated that Police also must be appreciated for the successful operation that uprooted Chotu Gang in South Punjab.

“COAS Raheel Sharif has ordered Army to stay in the area till the last dacoit surrenders,” he said. “All no-go areas around the country need to be cleared.”

Lt Gen Bajwa confirmed that Chotu Gang surrendered without any conditions. “The gang has been handed over to intelligence agencies for further investigation. We have searched the area and the dacoits had heavy fire arms with deep grounded bunkers.”

The DG ISPR said the families of these dacoits have been evacuated from the island.

Earlier this morning the 21-day operation against Chotu gang in the tri-border riverine areq of Rajanpur finally concluded with the ringleaders’ surrender.

The gang had been camped inside a 50 square kilometer river island near the Balochistan and Sindh border, with 24 police officials as hostages.

During the three-week long operation six police officials were killed and multiple injured, as security forces begin cleaning up the area and arresting the gang’s partners in crime and facilitators.
