Police claim arrest of bank heist accused

The district police claimed to have arrested the perpetrator(s) of a bank robbery, one month after the incident while the accused have confessed to their crime.
On March 19, armed robbers looted Rs18 million from Al-Meezan Bank’s branch situated on Sir Syed Road. The police after hectic efforts, stretched over one month, traced the accused - a man and woman.
According to the police, members of the dacoit gang stayed at the house of a woman identified as Sajida Parveen in Shaheen Town, Khanewal and the next morning they committed the bank heist. Khanewal DPO Jahanzaib Nazeer Khan told the media that tracing the robbery accused was in fact a tough task, because the robbers had not left no imprint or clue.
“They had even taken with them the CCTV cameras while fleeing after the robbery,” he informed.
He claimed that the team constituted to form to trace the accused, conducted raids on many locations in Sindh and Punjab provinces. “Finally, the investigators managed to arrested Sajid Ali, son of Azizullah, a resident of district Shikarpur in Sindh,” he revealed.
During investigation, the accused confessed to the crime and told that after robbery he went to Multan and Bahawalpur and then onwards to Karachi from where the police arrested him.
The DPO said that further investigation is underway.
