FAISALABAD-Dozens of brick kiln works staged a protest outside DCO office here on Friday against different departments and for not getting government-fixed wages.
The protesters chanted slogans against district administration, police and education department. Labor Quami Movement and Bhatta Mazdoor Movement office-bearers with brick kiln workers including children and women said that Rs1,036 as a wages was declared for each 1,000 bricks but they were not paid the fixed wages while the departments concerned were doing nothing.
They added that Education Department was also not giving school uniforms to their children as per the directives of CM Punjab. They further alleged that Madina Town police after getting bribe registered fake cases against brick kiln workers who demand the govt-fixed wages. They threatened that their protest would continue unless their demands are accepted.
UAF APPROVES NEW PROGRAMMES: The Academic Council of University of Agriculture Faisalabad has approved new degree programmes.
The degree programmes approved for for Burewala sub-campus include MSc Economics, MSc Sociology, MSc Chemistry and MSc Botany. Entomology as major course for BSs (Agriculture) for Burewala Campus while MSc Zoology for Toba Tek Singh sub-campus are also being launched.
The new programmes for the UAF Main Campus include MPhil Epidemiology and Public Health, MSc Seed Science and Technology, MBA Executive Programs and certificate titled ‘One Health’. The meeting was chaired by UAF Vice Chancellor Iqrar Ahmad where Registrar Muhammad Hussain presented the agenda. The meeting also approved introducing sports course of three-credit hour in all degree program as optional subject.
