LAKKI MARWAT - Lawyers affiliated with the District Bar Association held a demonstration to protest against the police’s failure to arrest the culprits involved in ransacking the house of their colleague in Naurang town.
Led by Bar President Advocate Naimatullah Khan the protesting lawyers took out a rally from the premises of judicial complex. They chanted anti-police slogans and closed Lakki-Tajazai road in front of the main gate of the judicial complex.
The road closed for over an hour causing troubles for transporters and motorists.
Residents of the city and other adjacent villages also faced inconvenience, as they could not reach the offices of district government departments in the district headquarters complex Tajazai for their works.
Speaking at the lawyers’ gathering, Naimatullah Khan and others regretted that the local police had failed to arrest the culprits involved in the robbery incident within the given deadline set by the legal fraternity.
It is to be mentioned here that on the night of February 12, some unknown armed men in army and FC uniform had looted cash, gold ornaments and other valuables from the house of advocate Amanullah Jan, the brother of a prominent businessmen Akhia Jan in Naurang town.
The lawyers’ leaders said that police were still clueless about the looters. “They could not trace and arrest the culprits so far despite the lapse of one week”, they told.
They said that the local police had completely failed to provide security and protection to the area people.
“The increasing incidents of crimes indicate that police is least interested in maintaining law and order and tightening noose around the gangs of criminals”, they maintained.
They demanded immediate transfer of DSP Naurang Circle Sanaullah Khan and warned that the lawyers community would again come out to road if the dacoits were not arrested within the next three days.
The protesters later opened the road for traffic and dispersed when bar president and other leaders held successful talks with deputy commissioner Nisar Ahmad.
