No troops being sent to Saudi Arabia: Pakistan

ISLAMABAD- Pakistan’s Foreign Office has denied reports regarding large scale troops being sent to Saudi Arabia.

Addressing weekly news briefing today, Foreign Office Spokesperson Tasnim Aslam said there is no veracity in reports about sending of one hundred thousand Pakistani troops to Saudi Arabia.

Pakistan is already facing threats at eastern and western borders, the state can’t afford sending large scale troops to Saudi Arabia, she said.


In response to a question, she said that various meetings were being held with regards to border affairs with Iran. The foreign office has already given its reaction on the Iranian Interior minister’s statement and the Iranian president has been conveyed about the deep rooted brotherly relations between the two countries, she added.

The Pak-Iran gas pipeline is a different issue, she said.

She also said that the Indian army chief was continuously issuing provocative statements. Maulana Masood Azhar belongs to a banned outfit and his statements have no link with Pakistan’s policy, she concluded.
