Mahmand admin takes steps for flood protection



PESHAWAR - In order to provide better transportation facilities to tribal people, the Political Administration of Mohmand Agency has completed several developmental projects including construction of two link roads and flood protection wall in Tehsil Khwaizai and Haleemzai respectively.
Likewise, a clean drinking water scheme has also been completed in Lakaro Bazaar to ensure clean drinking water to the locals.
A press release issued by the FATA Secretariat here on Tuesday stated that about 1886-meter long link road from Aba Kor to Kaka Kor has been constructed along with 152-meter retaining wall to protect it from any damages.
Similarly in Aba Kor, another 1521-meter link road and a causeway have been constructed to connect the village with other areas of Tehsil Baizai.
The administration has also constructed 335-meter flood protection wall in village Serai Kalay, Kamali of Tehsil Haleemzai to save agricultural lands and local population from flood damages in future.
Similarly, water storage tanks were constructed and 73 meters deep bore was completed to ensure availability of clean drinking water in Lakaro Bazar.
It is expected that with the completion of these uplift schemes over 6000 locals would not only have an easy access to hospitals, schools and markets, but they would also remain protected from any flood damages in the upcoming moon soon season.
