PESHAWAR - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information Mian Iftikhar Tuesday has said that it is time to eradicate militancy, as the defeated anti-peace elements are trying to reorganize.
While addressing a ceremony of a community radio programme “Da Amn Awaz” (voice of peace), urged Pakhtuns to set together and find out a sustainable solution to the menace they were being faced. The programme was organized by the Center for Research and Security Studies (CRSS), an NGO, at the completion of one year of its radio programme “Sabawoon”, held here at the Peshawar Press Club.
Prominent among the speakers on the occasion included CRSS Programme Manager Asif Orakzai, Pashto literary figure Abasen Yousafzai, Dr Raj Wali Shah, Imtiaz Gul, and Dr Begum Jan. The Minister for Information Main Iftehar was the chief guest on the occasion.
Iftikhar Hussain said that media, specially radio, has played a vital role in the establishment of peace, and also brings awareness among the masses about their responsibilities and maintaining historically enrich Pakhtuns’ culture like Jirga system. He said that different complicated issues arose among the traditional hard Pakhtuns could be easily resolved through the traditional Pakhtun Jarga system, adding but with the passage of time the system unfortunately lost its that status.
He further said that CRSS through its radio transmission is promoting peace and revise the actual Jarga system among the Pakhtun nation. Appreciating its purpose to promote and maintain the bonds of Pakhtuns’ culture through its broadcasting in shape of different programs on peace in collaboration with Radio Pakistan is commendable, he said. He also said that the transmission of radio was an effective source of information, that could help provide education, awareness, guidance and entertainment to the people living in far-flung areas of the country.
It is quite effective as compared to TV channels or newspapers, he said, because low literacy rate and low communication facilities in the remote areas are hurdles in the flow of information or provision of infotainment.
Mian Iftikhar also lauded the role of CRSS for promoting peace and presenting a positive image of Pakhtun culture especially in the volatile law and order situation in the province and the adjacent tribal areas, adding through conspiracies against Pakhtuns were being hatched to blame them for violence and terrorism in the country but failed. 
“We are ready to negotiate with miscreants for the sake of durable peace in the province and if anyone, who challenges and takes law into his hand, would face a strict action,” he said.
In the programme distinguished personalities from different fields of life were invited, across the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Federally Administrated Tribal Areas (FATA) to inspire the new generation for performing their positive role in the society. On the occasion other participants were also addressed.
