Caretaker setup responsible for transparent polls, rigging could lead to bloodshed: Qureshi

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) vice president Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that transparent election depends on caretaker setup and warned that rigging in polls could lead to bloodshed.
Talking to media persons here in Multan on Wednesday, Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that sitting government enjoyed power and privileges during its tenure. It remained busy in distributing and awarding employments to favourites on political basis rendering losses of billions of rupees to national exchequer, he added.
He urged the election commission to take notice of the new employments and transfers during last month of government’s term.
The PTI vice president claimed that rumours regarding formation of Bahawalpur Southern Punjab province were baseless as both major political parties of the country have no interest in resolving the problems faced by masses and they were politicizing the issue to divert the attention of people and proving themselves more loyal than others.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) chief, Pervez Musharraf is Pakistani citizen and can return home and was free to make alliance with any political party including Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) in accordance with political interest and situation.
Responding to a question, he said that if court allows former prime minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani to contest polls then political mirth in Multan would definitely increase.
