Election activities gain momentum in PK-80


SWAT - With caretaker set-ups in centre and provinces would soon be decided, election activities in Malakand Division, particularly in Swat, have gained momentum.
Different political parties have started their political campaigns at the PK-80 constituency (Mingora city area).
The constituency had seen very tough competitions among different political parties in past as in 1993 general elections, PPP candidate Dr Mehboob-ur-Rehman got 9,097 votes and won the seat.
While ANP candidate Wajid Ali Khan received 8,626 votes and placed 2nd position, independent candidates Rafi-ul-Mulk secured  7,439, Abdur Rahim 6,381, Shamsher Ali Khan advocate 2,970 and PML-N candidate Hazrat Yousaf received 2,669.
In 1997 general election, PML-N candidate Asfandyar Amirzeb got 12,136 and won the provincial assembly seat. The ANP candidate Wajid Ali Khan got 7,975 votes and remained 2nd, PPP-S Fazal Rehman Nono received 5,823 votes, PTI Candidate Abdur Rahim got 3,778, independent candidates Shehzada got 351 votes only and Abdul Wadood got 135 votes only.
In 2002 general elections, JI candidate Muhammad Amin got 15,594 votes and won the seat while PPP-S candidate Fazl Rehman Nono got 5,520 votes and got 2nd position. ANP Candidate Wajid Ali Khan got 4,801 votes, PTI candidate Sher Afgan Kaka received 1,383 votes and PML-N candidate Qawi Khan got 1,073 votes and PAP candidate Naseem Gul advocate 104 votes.
In 2008 general election, ANP candidate Wajid Ali Khan secured 4,904 votes and won the seat while PPP-P candidate Riaz Ahmed Advocate got 3,788 votes and placed 2nd. 
Same way PPP-S Candidate Rafi-Ul-Mulk got 3,461 votes, JUI candidate Mulana Muhammad Tuyaab Siddqui got 2,557, PML-N Qawi Khan got 1,691 and independent candidates Syed Ali Shah received 1,244 and Israr Ali got 13 votes only.
This time for the PK-80 provincial assembly seat very tough competition is expected because JI has nominated its former MPA Muhammad Ali as its candidate while Qaumi Watan Party has nominated Fazl Rehman Nono. On the other hand, the rest of political parties have not announced their candidates so far.
According to our sources, for this area seat ANP’s present MPA Wajid Ali Khan and former Nazim Amankot Haji Raza Khan will submit their applications for party tickets.
While PML-N personalities’ list is long as compare to other political parties, former candidate Qawi khan, Abdur Rahim, Sadiq Aziz, Asmat Ali, Malak Baram khan, and Irshad ali Khan will submit their applications for party ticket.
Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians Riaz Ahmed former candidate Farooq Khan and former MPA Malak Fida Khan will also submit their applications for ticket.
While JUI Mulana Hujaatullah, Qari Shams Rehman and former candidate Qari Muhammad Shoaib will submit their applications for party ticket. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf former candidate Professor Sher Afgan Kaka, Dr Siraj and Fazal Hakim will also submit their applications for the party ticket. Independent candidates are also expected to take part in this election.
PK-80 along with Mingora city is a very important seat in all provincial seats of swat.
This area seat has always seen a very tough competition among different candidates and the leaders of different political parties will try their best to win the seat,
But political analysts say the upcoming general elections will see a very tough competition among all political parties as different political parties, including PML -N, PTI, ANP and JI political parties, have big vote bank in the area.
