Vehicle carrying Nato equipment torched

QUETTA-A trailer carrying armoured vehicle for US-led coalition forces deployed in Afghanistan was torched, near Chaman, Pak-Afghan border on Wednesday. According to official sources, the trailer was heading towards Kandahar from Karachi when unidentified people intercepted it at Shala Bagh area, on Quetta Chaman Highway, and set it on fire. The backside of trailer was badly damaged due to the fire. Abdul Aziz, driver of trailer, told newsmen that he was driving when he noticed fire on backside of trailer. 'As I stopped vehicle, three persons jumped down from the vehicle and escaped into the mountains, he added. Police and personnel of Frontier Corps reached the site after being informed and cordoned off the area. The sources said that traffic on Quetta-Chaman Highway also remained suspended for about one hour due to the incident and fire brigade was called in which put off the fire and later highway was cleared for the traffic. Police has registered a case against unidentified people and started further investigations.
