ISLAMABAD: Foreign Office on Thursday summoned India’s Deputy High Commissioner JP Singh to lodge a protest over the ceasefire violation at the Line of Control (LoC).

A protest letter was handed over to the deputy high commissioner, which read that India had been consistently violating the ceasefire. It also mentioned the loss of innocent lives from India aggression at the LoC, where over 90 such incidents have been reported.

On Wednesday, at least one civilian was killed and five others wounded as a result of continuing unprovoked firing and shelling by Indian forces across the LoC, Inter-Services Public Relations said.

The unprovoked fire by Indian forces killed Abdur Rehman, 28, in Karela sector along the LoC, said ISPR. Five other civilians, including two women and two children, were also wounded in the cross-border fire.
