WAZIRABAD - Despite completion of buildings completed at a cost of Rs500 million, eleven health facilities including Wazirabad Institute of Cardiology are still nonfunctional in the tehsil. The buildings of the Wazirabad Institute of Cardiology, one rural health centre and nine health units were constructed two years ago. Rupees 420 million was spent on the building of the Wazirabad Institute of Cardiology, Rs17.5 million on that of the Rural Health Centre of Jamki Chattha, Rs7.5 million on Basic Health Unit of village Ladhewala and Rs2 million each on BHUs of Joowali, Kakka Kolo , Hairanwala, Dhoniki, Lohianwali, Kotli Sahian, Said Nagar and Laveriwala. Now, all the buildings are lying desolated. Some of them have been flooded with rainwater and others have been occupied by addicts whereas the others have become cattle dens. Furthermore, the building of the Wazirabad Institute of Cardiology is without electricity connection. When contacted, the sub engineer of the Building Department said that the department had deposited a huge amount as per the demand note issued by Gepco but no connection had so far been provided despite a number of reminders.
