LAHORE - Police high-ups could not appoint commander and the committee to monitor, implement and supervise the operation against Chotu gang even after elapsing a week after action against anti-state elements started in Rajanpur, reveal documents available with Nawa-i-Waqt.
Punjab police committed professional negligence with faulty and improper planning and irregularities, besides showing haste in starting operation against Chotu gang, the documents further say.
On April 7, after elapsing nine days of the start of the operation, Punjab Inspector General of Police Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera appointed a nine-member committee to supervise, monitor and implement operation in Rajanpur’s reverine area. This joint operational committee comprised officers from police, Elite Force, Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), Intelligence Bureaue (IB), Special Branch and Rangers.
According to the notification, RPO DG Khan was appointed commander of the operation in Rajanpur, while the other eight members were, RPO Bahwalpur Ihsan Sadiq, DPO Rajanpur Ghulam Mubashir, DPO Rahim Yar Khan Zeeshan Asghar, Additional Director CTD Col Arshad, Commandant Elite Police Training School Col Saad and an officer each from IB, Special Branch and Rangers.
It is quite interesting that the operation was started without forming any committee to monitor, oversee, implement and regulate the whole process which is obviously a question mark over the performance of a ‘Disciplined Force’. And the hasty operation took precious lives of many policemen.
