HAFIZABAD - As many as 20 female workers of Crescent Bahu Maan Textile Mills were injured, five of them seriously, when the bus of the mills carrying them overturned near Mubara village on Sukheke-Hafizabad Road Wednesday evening.
According to hospital sources, the workers were returning to their homes after performing their duties in the mills. When the bus reached near Mubara village one of the tyres of the vehicle exploded. As a result, the bus overturned. The Rescue-1122 shifted the injured women to the DHQ Hospital where condition of five of them is stated to be critical.
MAN DROWNS: A young man of Kot Daim was drowned in the River Chenab while taking bath in the river.  According to villager, Muhammad Ashraf S/o Gulzar dived in the river to beat the heat when he was caught by a whirlpool and was drowned. However, his body was recovered by the villagers after two hours.
ELECTION: Abdul Razzaq Mughal and Rai Sikandar Nawaz were elected Chairman and General Secretary respectively of the Pakistan WAPDA Hydro-Electric Labour Union Hafizabad for the current year.
The other office-bearers elected were: Vice Chairman Malik Muhammad Ali Awan, Joint Secretary Hafiz Muhammad Shafiq.
DEATH: Veteran Punjabi Poet and Vice President Bazm-e-Naat Hafizabad Dr. Talib Hussain Sialvi died here after protracted illness. He was laid to rest in the Railway line graveyard. The funeral was attended by large number of educationists, poets, journalists and local citizens.
