MARDAN - An Assistant Director of Anti-Corruption Peshawar, who was abducted three days back, has been killed and his severed head and body was recovered from Astambol Banda in the limits of Kharki Police Station, sources told The Nation on Friday.
They said Altafur Rehman, who was deployed in Peshawar as assistant director of anti-corruption, went missing when he was moving from Peshawar to Mardan. The sources said unidentified accused slaughtered him and dumped his head near a house and his body in the nearby field in Astambol Banda.
The sources further said that on Thursday at 12:00 midnight severed head of Altaf was found.
Later on, early in the morning police recovered body from the fields few metres from his head.
The sources further disclosed that Altafur Rehman, who belonged to Dera Ismail Khan, has ties with a man namely Zahir Ali, son of Anwar Shah, resident of Qasmi area of the above-mentioned police station. The sources said that a few days ago he along with Zahir Shah came to Mardan from Peshawar and later on went missing.
When contacted, District Police Officer (DPO) Mardan Gul Afzal Afridi confirmed the incident. He said he called the relatives of the deceased to Mardan and handed over the body to them.
