ISLAMABAD - Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) is unhappy with the PML-N government's attitude for continuously ignoring the right of opposition parties' business in the agenda of National Assembly (NA) just to show their performance graph at the end of parliamentary year. "The ruling party (PML-N) is continuously ignoring opposition parties' business against the norms of the parliamentary rules, which is questionable and discouraging," MQM senior lawmaker Abdul Rashid Godil exclusively shared with The Nation.
The treasury side always accommodate all opposition parties in the proceedings of the parliament but here PML-N even does not bother to steal time of opposition parties in 'order of the day'. "Most of the time our adjournment motion, bills, resolutions have been lapsed due to this discriminatory attitude of ruling clique," said Godil, mentioning the bills included 'deweaponisation in Pakistan' and 'law reforms' etc.
He said that MQM is waiting for putting their resolution in favour of provinces in the order of the day but still there are no chances. About Call-attention notices, he mentioned that government side often prefers its own notices during the session of the Lower House. "In order to highlight things pertaining to their own interest, the government side often put their own call-attention notices by ignoring opposition benches," he said, adding that sometimes opposition parties have to wait for a week to see their call-attention notice on agenda item.
Godil believed that government wants to dispose of their own agenda items in the proceeding of the house just to increase their performance graph, which was poor in the last parliamentary year.
It would not be out of place to mention here that PML-N government in first parliamentary year able to make only two acts of parliament, including finance bill, which is mandatory.
Godil said that MQM has submitted adjournment motion in the National Assembly Secretariat about Peshawar's carnage. "We want detailed discussion on Peshawar School sad incident in the house, as already adjournment motion for next session has been submitted," Godil said, while taking the credit about MQM's extraordinary performance in first parliamentary year by taking part in discussions and attendance point of view. He further said that MQM has also submitted adjournment motion about fast increasing incidents of target killing of MQM workers in Punjab. "We will pose questions from concerned authorities about increasing incidents of target killing of MQM's workers," he added.
