Various ceremonies, functions and debate contests were held in different parts of Thal to pay tribute to martyrs of Army Public School (APS) Peshawar the other day.
In this connection, a speech competition was held at Government Girls Elementary School Mohallah Hussainabad.
DDO Education Sheikh Amjad Ejaz presided over the ceremony while AC Ch Ali Atif Buttar participated as chief guest. Teacher Kalsoom conducted the proceedings while Headmistress Madam Shaheen and DPS Principal Sumaia Muneer were also present on the occasion.
A large number of teachers and students of different schools attended the programme.
Addressing on the occasion, the DDO and the AC paid rich tributes to martyrs of APS, saying that the terrorists have failed to demoralise the nation by their neferious designs.
They said that the sacrifice of innocent students and teachers would not go waste and the country would soon be freed from the menace of terrorism and extremism.
They said that today a large numbers of the participation conveyed a strong message that the entire nation was united against terrorists.
They said that the nation foiled conspiracy hatched by terrorists to push the country into darkness.
They said that the valiant armed forces of Pakistan and other law-enforcement agencies launched a full-fledged operation against terrorists and conveyed to the enemy that it would never achieve its despicable designs.
The students belonging to various schools participated in the competition.
On the occasion, the students from different schools presented tableaus to pay homage to the APS Peshawar victims. The participants also offered Fateha for the departed souls.
Likewise, a function was also held at Government Boys Primary School No-2 where Assistant Education Officer Malik Muhammad Khalid Rahdari and other speakers paid tributes to the martyrs specially those martyred in Army Public School terrorist attack on December 16. Meanwhile, various ceremonies, functions and contests were also held in different areas of Thal under Martyrs Week to pay tribute to martyred students of Army Public School Peshawar.
