SRINAGAR : Cross-border trade between the two divided parts of Kashmir failed to resume on Thursday. The trade was likely to be resumed more than a month after Indian authorities recovered drugs from a truck carrying goods from Pakistani side of Kashmir. “Our trucks were ready, but no truck came from the Pakistani side,” said Showkat Ahmad Rather, custodian of the Salamabad trade facilitation centre in Srinagar, reported Hindustan Times. “The cross-LoC trade is based on the barter system, with goods being exchanged for goods. As no truck came from that side, we did not allow any trucks to cross over,” he added. This news was published in The Nation newspaper. Read complete newspaper of 21-Feb-2014 here.
