KHYBER AGENCY - Militancy across the Afghan border has disturbed the law and order situation in Fata, Assistant political Agent (APA) Landi Kotal Iqbal Khattak said Wednesday. Commenting on the last days mortar shells attack here in Landi Kotal while talking to local journalists in his office, he said the mortar shells might be fired from beyond the Afghan border. The long border from Upper Dir and Bajaur to Waziristan has been disturbed by the increasing insurgency in the bordering areas of Afghanistan, Iqbal Khattak opined. We are competent to further improve the situation so that large-scale development schemes could be initiated to remove the grievances of the poor people, he said. The officials of various departments and several individuals could freely move in Landi Kotal sub-division and it was a good omen for the locals, he said. Khattak assured that loadshedding issue would be taken up with the high-ups of Tesco so that water crisis could not take place due to excessive loadshedding. He said that proper arrangements would be made to run the tube wells to meet the needs of local people. I am aware of the loadshedding problem that it is affecting the life, APA said adding that high officials had been approached to take up the loadshedding issue at very high level. He said the loading problem of water tankers owners would shortly be resolved so that they could carry water to the people. He remarked that all possible steps would be taken in the best interest of the people to resolve their outstanding problems. He said the law and order situation was very grave in the past, however it was gradually improving.
