KP govt bans entry of foreigners sans NoC

PESHAWAR (Online) - The government of Khyber Pakhtun-khwa has banned the entry of foreigners in the province without No Objection Certificate (NOC) of Interior Ministry. The sources said the KP government took this step due to the law and order situation in the province. The Home Department issued instructions to IGP that without NOC of the Ministry of Interior, no foreign national including diplomats could enter the limits of Khyber Pakhtun-khwa. If any foreigner was found in violation of the orders, he might be taken into custody. Staff Reporter adds: In another attempt of violation of Pakistani law, seven US Embassy personnel tried to enter Peshawar without complete travel documents, however, the officials turned them back to Islamabad from Peshawar Motorway toll plaza here on Wednesday. Sources said that seven personnel of US Embassy were travelling in three separate vehicles bearing registration number SV-706, ST-169, Q.H -790 and all of them were bullet proof with latest jammers. These vehicles when reached Peshawar Motorway toll plaza, personnel of law- enforcement agencies stopped the vehicles and checked their documents as their passports had no NOCs to enter Peshawar city. After detail scrutiny of their documents personnel of law-enforcement agencies sent US Embassy officers back to Islamabad. They were identified as Danial Lee, Parz Michael Jan, Vogan Johnson while four persons were those stopped by the security agencies on Tuesday also. This was the fourth time that US Embassy personnel travelling to Peshawar without NOC and four times they have been sent back to Islamabad. It was still not confirmed that for what purpose they are regularly travelling to Peshawar having no complete documents. First time they entered Peshawar on July 14th, 15th 2011 while in their second attempt the tried on July 19th and July 20th for entering Peshawar, however, due to high alertness of Pak agencies, their movement was brought under check. US Embassy spokesman has also expressed deep concern over the stoppage of US Embassy officers to enter Peshawar and said that they have reservations over this matter and soon they would take up this issue with Pakistani authorities.
