PPP steps up efforts for new provinces

AHMEDPUR EAST - Federal Minister Makhdoom Shahabuddin said that National Assembly Speaker Fehmida Mirza would constitute a 14-member Parliamentary Commission for the creation of new provinces in the first week of Ramazan.He was talking to the media after one-on-meeting with Bahawalpur National Awami Party Chief Nawab Salahuddin Abbasi at his residence. Shahabuddin also conveyed President Zardari special message to Nawab Salahuddin Abbasi and discussed with him on the restoration of former provincial status of Bahawalpur and creation of South Punjab province for more than two hours. To a question, Shahabuddin said that President Zardari would visit Bahawalpur soon after Eidul Fitr and meet with the representatives of the people to discuss problems of the region. To another query, he said that the PPP would launch its new manifesto before Eid and that his party was also incorporating the demands for the creation of new provinces in it. However, he revealed that some party legislators hailing from Central Punjab had reservations about the creation of new provinces in Punjab so PPP leadership would remove their apprehensions in this regard.Commenting on grouping in PPP Bahawalpur district, he stated that former MNA Malik Aamar Yar Waran was the district president of the PPP Bahawalpur while former district president of the PPP Shakar Mirza was being adjusted in PPP South Punjab. He ruled out his differences with member Central Executive Committee PPP and Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Zaka Ashraf. Regarding his visit to Sadiq Garh Palace Dera Nawab Sahib, he confirmed that on the instructions of PPP Central leadership, he met with  Nawab Salahuddin so to discuss the matter of creation of new provinces. The federal minister also said that he would submit his report about his meeting with Nawab Salahuddin Abbasi to PPP leadership upon his return to Islamabad.BNAP President Farooq Azam Malik, PPP South Punjab Senior Vice President Haider Zaman Qureshi , Media Coordinator of Prime Minster Khawaja Rizwan Alam and MPA Shah Rukh Malik were also present.Public seeks action against quacks: Residents of Sambrial have complained that illegal practices of quacks in different areas are posing threats to the health of the residents. These quacks have set up clinics in the main market of Sambrial city and have been fleecing people besides causing serious health hazards. According to local people most of the quacks have displayed nameplates outside their clinics, hoodwinking the public that qualified doctors are providing healthcare at the clinics.The local people claimed that most of these quacks were not even dispensers as lacked any authentic degree or even diplomas. During treatment they (quacks) provide patients with medicines of high potency which often deteriorates health rather curing the health.They demanded the district administration to take notice of the threat to the public health and launch a crackdown on these quacks to save the public.
