Expressing displeasure over inordinate delay in implementation of service structure promised by the Chief Minster Punjab in February, Young Doctors Association Punjab on Saturday announced devising protest strategy after consultation with General Council if legitimate demands were not fulfilled till July 31.
Addressing a press conference at Services Hospital, YDA Punjab President Dr Javed Aheer said that only eight out of 52 points have been implemented by the bureaucracy despite lapse of five months. YDA office bearers including Dr Usman, Dr Abubakr, Dr Shabbir Ahmad, Dr Ajmal, Dr Basharat and Dr Khurram Shahzad were also present.
Dr Aheer said that Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif had given assurance in February that all the legitimate demands of medical community would be met on priority basis but nothing happened.
He said that the demands yet to be implemented included promotion criteria for all cadres of doctors, increments, creation of number of seats of Senior Registrars which earlier had been converted into assistant professors, referral system (to refer patients from DHQs, THQs, RHCs to the tertiary care hospitals), degree allowance and others.–Staff Reporter
