Heroin seized

ISLAMABAD Islamabad police on Monday early morning arrested four persons busting a well-organised gang of drug peddlers and recovered 18-kg heroin which is the huge quantity of drug recovered in the history of Islamabad police, reliable sources said on Monday. Sources told this scribe that on Monday at 1:30 a.m. near D-Watsen Plaza on check-point Superintend Police (SP) City Capt M Ilyas during his routine checking searched a vehicle. The person in the vehicle was carrying 10-kg heroin. The said person was investigated who revealed that a well-organised group is working behind the heinous crime. Upon the lead of arrested person, the police on 3:00 a.m. raided Saidpur Village and arrested three other along with 8-kg heroin. Sources added that the group during investigation had confessed that they were purchasing the narcotics from Peshawar, kept packing it into gifts and decorations pieces then transported to Sialkot. In Silakot the concerned persons verified the quality of heroin and then through certain couriers services, the heroin was transported to United Kingdom and Canada. The packing of the heroin was done in two hired housed in sectors G-10 and G-9, sources said. Moreover, sources added that the drug peddlers with the help of prostitutes transported heroin from Peshawar to Islamabad then onward Islamabad to Sialakot. He said that this success became possible through the regular surprise visits by SP city to the checkpoints since last 15 days. The four arrested persons are identified as Yasir, Goga, Mehmood and Javed, he added. When this scribe contacted, SP City declined to comment on it and said it would be premature to disclose the matter.
